We were hiking through Devil’s Den State Park, meandering through caves and searching for the ideal space to hang a hammock. What else would we be doing?
It was the beginning of summer; it was hot and humid, but it was beautiful. So many shades of green lined the sky as the treetops stretched above us, leaving tiny pockets for the sun to shine through. The Ozarks are perfect, and unique beyond comparison. Were they made for hammock-hanging? Of course they were, that’s a silly question.
As much as the Ozarks are worth exploring, the Western United States boasts a different kind of landscape: the mountains. I’d also argue that the mountains were made for hanging hammocks - and for skiing, climbing, hiking, horseback-riding, running, biking, and a multitude of other adrenaline inducing activities. So as we walked through Devil’s Den State Park, still admiring the green, we knew we had to take these hammocks and chairs farther.
And that’s what we are doing, taking them farther. Not just by a few miles, but try a thousand miles. Colorado and Wyoming; the Rockies and the Grand Tetons. These mountains are calling us, and we’d be wrong to tell them no. We’re excited, and we’ve been planning like crazy to make this trip a once-in-a-lifetime experience for our Kijaro Team, and for all of you journeyers who follow us. We want you to be just as involved as we are.
It started as a faint idea on a very normal hike, but we have the dates set and the mountains are awaiting us. Here goes nothing.
Follow us on instagram @kijarojourneyon, and keep up with our hashtag #kijarojourneytour. We’ll be doing giveaways throughout the trip, and maybe even some meet & greets along the way. Trust me, you’ll want to keep up with this journey.
We'd like to give a huge thanks to our sponsors, @fayettechill, @airshipcoffee, & @coola for supplying some amazing products to help us on our adventure. Check them out on Instagram, and let us know what you think of the #kijarojourneytour!
